George Murphy is a problem solver. He takes the time to carefully listen to his clients’ concerns and to design a plan that will achieve optimum results in a timely and efficient manner. He values clear and open communication with his clients to ensure that they are fully informed of the issues and understand the implications of their decisions. He brings 38 years of diverse litigation experience to the table, and a well-earned reputation for high ethical standards and professional skills.

Early in his career, George was honored to serve in a consulting capacity for trial court judges (Sacramento County Superior Court) and then for appellate court justices (California Court of Appeal in Sacramento). In private practice, he has been recognized annually by preeminent attorney rating services with the highest honors they bestow, including the A-V rating of Martindale-Hubbell, the Superb rating from AVVO, and the designation of California Super Lawyer in the field of civil appeals. He has also been designated as a mediator for the California Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District, after receiving in-depth training through the auspices of that Court. He is a member of the Council of Appellate Lawyers and the Dispute Resolution Section of the American Bar Association. He has given numerous group presentations on various subjects, including the appellate process, insurance coverage issues, and risk shifting strategies for businesses and public agencies. George has been involved in hundreds of appellate matters and has over 45 published decisions to his name.

After co-founding a successful and highly regarded Northern California law firm, where George Murphy simultaneously carried a full load of cases and served as the firm’s CEO, George recently settled into a simpler solo practice where he can focus his energy and skills primarily in the areas of Civil Appeals, Insurance Coverage Disputes and Alternative Dispute Resolution. He now resides in Austin, Texas, but is licensed to practice law in Texas and California, and frequently travels between those states to handle assignments. He pays his own travel expenses.

Whether you need dynamic appellate court representation, or experienced help with an insurance coverage dispute or would like the services of an effective mediator in getting your dispute solved, George Murphy welcomes the opportunity to chat with you to see what can be done. Feel free to call or send an email to get things started.
